Did you know that the 3rd biggest canyon in the world is located in South Africa, The Blyde River Canyon? A beautiful area to spend some time. Views from God’s Window, Wonderview are fantastic. Lovely villages like Graskop to unwind and have a great meal. The Graskop Hotel is a wonderful place and they exhibit some nice art. Visit an old Gold Miner’s village, Pilgrim’s Rest and read about the Voortrekkers who pioneered through this area on their ox wagons in the 1800s.
When we were visiting last week, we were lucky with the weather. Often this area has a lot of mist, especially in the morning. Make sure to walk the path from God’s Window to Wonderview. You’ll walk through a lovely rainforest, this spot gets the most rain in South Africa. At the potholes you can get your feet wet, nice for those hot days! Whit River rafting is also a possibility from Sabie. Or what about Hot Air Ballooning? This is an area where you can at least spend 3 or 4 days.
