Just a random Summer w-end in Cape Town

Last weekend was such a relaxed spontaneous weekend and I really enjoyed all the beautiful spots around Cape Town.. We started off with after work Sundowners at Wakame (www.wakame.co.za, 021 433 2240). It is one of the best places in Cape Town for sundowners on the rooftop terrace overlooking Table Bay.  We also had some lovely salads as a late night dinner. For a salad with seared tuna and avo I paid R58 which I thought was very reasonable. It was a HOT weekend so Saturday had to be a beach day. It was actually my first time on the beach this Summer because I don’t really like crowds, traffic jams and the likes. But Saturday I went early, 10ish so not that early, and found parking right on Camps Bay Boulevard. Me and my umbrella parked ourselves right at the water edge and it was pure BLISS!! Being so close to the see, the temperature was a few degrees lower than on street level and there was some kind of a coolish breeze..A few friends joined later and I actually enjoyed myself till about 4pm. Time to get home, take a nap,  prepare a nice dinner and then oops I almost forgot, drinks at a friend’s place. It was such a lovely warm night, we sat outside the whole evening and had a good catch up. On Sunday afternoon I REALLY enjoyed a free concert at De Waal Park (www.dewaalpark.co.za). There are still quite a few to enjoy. Last Sunday we could enjoy the Gugulethu Tenors who are quite extraordinary. It wasn’t full at all so it’s the perfect place to get all of your family and friends, picnic blankets, kids and even your dogs are welcome. What a stunning place and what a great way to finish off a lovely weekend in the most beautiful place in the world, The City of Cape Town!

And then we kicked off the week on Monday with a hike on Lion’s Head. Just gotta love life in Cape Town!
