Industry day with Hylton Ross to Old Mac Daddy in Elgin
Better late than never, I write this blogpost a few weeks after this awesome day out to apple country. It had been on my bucket-list for way too long. I’ve tried to get a booking here a couple of times when I had a wedding in the area but tough luck for weekends because it’s mostly booked out. Not a surprise because this place is truly unique to South Africa and probably to the world!
All perfectly organized by Martina Barth from Let’s Go there, we went for the day to the country side, about 1.5 hrs from Cape Town. Hylton Ross was so kind to sponsor transportation and off we went. After LOTS of rain during the week, it was a stunning Friday so everybody was quite excited to go out and explore.
A bit of a bus trip with people of the industry is always good for networking so we had great discussions about our beautiful Cape Town and how wonderful it is to work in an industry with such passionate people. Ek stem saam!
Arriving at Old Mac Daddy we were welcomed with the freshest muffins, straight out of the oven, coffee and tea before we started our site inspection. Jay, the GM, was most welcoming and made sure that we all were well looked after. See here my photo blog here for pictures of all the trailers.
For those not in the know yet, Old Mac Daddy is an upmarket trailer park in the middle of apple country, the Elgin Valley. Here’s a link to Daddy’s world is you like to find out more about this fabulous collection of creative accommodation in the Cape Town area.
After many Oh’s, Ah’s, Wow’s and Have you seen that one??? we gathered again in the restaurant area where we were treated to a delicious lunch consisting of Pizza, Chicken and of course Apple Pie and the most delicious apple juice.
After lunch we were tractored back to the bus where we took a group picture. South Hill Winery donated a crispy bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.
Great day with great people in a great valley which should not be looked over when visiting the Western Cape. Thanks to all, Martina, Jay, the ladies from Hylton Ross, who made it such a lovely day!
