Finally I made it to this stunning place that has been on my to-do list for at least the last year. It’s not a place to go to if you a last-minute weekend-planner because it’s fully booked all the time. So I was pleasantly surprised when I phoned last Monday and managed to get in today. At last! Today is just a wonderful winter’s day in the Cape so one has to take advantage and enjoy it as much as you can. My friend and I got in the car and drove to the Stellenbosch Wine lands. The Autumn colours of the landscape are quite beautiful and the drive itself just winds you down. Hidden Valley really is quite hidden as we got lost and took the wrong turn off. After a breathtaking drive through the Hidden Valley we then couldn’t find the entrance of the restaurant, really all quite hidden! We felt a bit silly. A few bread crumbs to show us the way would have been much appreciated (preferably Olive bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic…). But once we arrived, we just couldn’t stop talking about the views (you can actually see Table Mountain from the deck), the GREAT winter weather and the fabulous winter specials that are on in many of the restaurants in Cape Town and surroundings.
Overture has a 3 course lunch special for ZAR 200 a head (€ 20) but we choose from the a la carte which changes on a daily basis. We started of with some delicious Olive Bread Rolls and amuses. 1 picture says more than a 1000 words so see below for the whole menu. Everything was incredibly delicious, beautifully presented and served in a professional and friendly way. We will be back!
