Welgelegen Guesthouse, a home-away-from-home!

Last weekend we were invited to come and stay at Welgelegen Guesthouse, just off Kloof Street here in Cape Town. I had already sent guests there a few months ago and they’d all been very happy. First of all, the location of the guesthouse is perfect. It’s situated in a quiet cul-de-sac. Kloof street is just a 1 minute walk because guests are given the key to cross through the parking of Jan van Riebeeck School which is really super convenient. Upon arrival we were welcomed by Alex who also brought us to the room. Welgelegen is a beautiful old buidling with high ceilings and wooden floors. We were booked in a room with a small French balcony. The view was Lion’s Head which happens to be my favourite mountain so I was quite happy. The room had a mini bar, flatscreen TV, enough cupboard space and a little desk. The bathroom I thought was quite clever with separate bath and shower (good water pressure!), 2 basins and enough space to put all your toiletries. Heated towel rail was very much appreciated. The guesthouse has lovely gardens and a pool as well although we could not enjoy that (it’s def Winter in Cape Town). There’s a nice lounge with a fire place for guests who’d like to read and have a drink. Complimentary Port is available. Breakfast was served buffet style and hot breakfast was being served. We had a nice table right next to the fire place. Loved the croissants and the fresh fruit as well. Oh, I hope I will be able to send Welgelegen many guests in the future because I know they’re all going to be quite happy. For more info check: www.welgelegen.co.za
